How the Program Operates

Jefferson County High School began operation in January, 1986, as an open-entry/open-exit program. Its mission was to provide an opportunity for students to obtain a high school diploma by attending class on a flexible schedule. The target population was: 16-20 year old students who wished to transfer from their present high school, young adults 16-20 years of age who had dropped out of school, and adults 21 years of age or older. Since its inception, JCHS has grown so that it now serves over 5000 students and has over 400 graduates annually.

Training for Staff Using JCHS Materials

Jefferson County High School has developed a system of curriculum implementation that has been highly successful and is currently utilized in over 300 school districts/agencies in 27 states. While some districts desire a complete training which would include program awareness, sensitivity, and curriculum implementation, others want just curriculum implementation. We would be pleased to share our methodology with you in a customized training.
